I have been wanting to read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn since it first came out in 2012, but if I’m going to purchase a book I’d like it in paperback (I know, I’m picky). So as soon as I saw it on the shelves in paperback I snatched it up….and better yet, it was on sale!
This book was one of my favorite reads in a long time. I am a huge fan of mysteries and thrillers and this exceeded all that for me by far. It was definitely not the light-hearted mystery that I am used to reading from Mary Higgins Clark. It was sharp, twisted, and so suspenseful…just when I thought I knew what was going on there was another surprise waiting on the next page. The premise is that Amy disappears on her 5th wedding anniversary to her husband Nick. The book begins with the voice of Nick in present day when he learns of Amy’s disappearance and also with Amy’s voice from previous journal entries. I really liked the writing style of Gillian Flynn and I am anxious to read her other books.
