It may not have been clear with my earlier post, but I am a little late to ‘the Nanny Books’ train. Tucked inside the pages of this book I found the receipt from the day that I purchased it and laughed out loud when I saw that it was from 2011. I realized then, after already writing a review on The Nanny Diaries, that people may not want to read reviews of books that are years old. BUT for those of you who might not have read the Nanny books yet, here’s a post for you.
Just like its predecessor, The Nanny Returns by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus did not disappoint with its hilarious story of a girl struggling (once again!) to make sense of the upper class in New York City. This book takes place 12 years after the first one when Nan returns to New York after her years abroad with her husband. Almost immediately she is thrown back into the lives of the rich and conceited family that once drove her to leave the city. Nan tries to keep her head above water while juggling the remodeling of her apartment, her new job, and two boys whose parents have left them to fend for themselves if she hadn’t swooped in to help. This book was light and fun and I am sad to see the story of Nan end.
