About a month ago I booked our hotel and planned our trip. When we learned that it was supposed to rain all weekend I thought about canceling and going at a later time, but with summer just around the corner, rates were only going up. So we kept our plans and thought we would make the best of it. Turns out, Napa can be quite beautiful even when through the clouds. And let me just say, it was pretty gloomy. It rained all of Saturday and Sunday morning, but we finally caught a break in the clouds on Sunday to enjoy some more pretty vineyard scenes without the rain.
We started out our trip with a visit to the Fremont Diner, per a recommendation on their fried chicken and biscuits. So yummy, especially on a cold and rainy day. Saturday afternoon we explored a few vineyards and wineries in Napa. Our favorite was Domaine Chandon because of their garden area and outside seating. It was drizzling, but that didn’t stop us from taking our glass and walking around the property. On Sunday we explored the town of Sonoma where we stayed the night and also visited a few local wineries there. We finally did a proper tasting at Jacuzzi Family Vineyards since it was complimentary…always looking for a deal 🙂 But then we walked away with two bottles…ha!
All in all I am glad we went as it was so, so great to get out of town and spend some quality time together.
