My father-in-law was in town this past weekend which happened to be one of the busiest weeks in Monterey (if not THE busiest). Every August, people gather from all around the world for arguably the most prestigious car shows and auctions, the Concours d’Elegance. It’s always a crazy week at work but its also really quite the experience to see the number of cars that roll in. I didn’t know that a McLaren existed before I experienced my first car week, but now its my favorite sport car 🙂
Although there was crazy traffic, having the car show in town was a great way to spend a weekend with two men in the house. Friday and Saturday were spent viewing the cars on Cannery Row and spending a sunny afternoon at the race track at Laguna Seca.
After suffering from major sunburn, we decided to get out of the crazy town on Sunday and headed up to Santa Cruz. I was anxious to take them both to the new places I had discovered on my trip there last month while Andrew was away.
We started out with a long walk along the West Cliff Drive, watching the surfers float like ants in the water, finally catching a wave or two. Finally the sun came out, just in time for a yummy lunch on the wharf where I had my first fish tacos….and yes I am a new fan 🙂
We finished our day with a long walk along the boardwalk and then downtown Pacific Avenue for some ice cream. It was such a fun weekend with lots of sunshine and new memories. I feel like we haven’t been able to take advantage of summer these past few weeks as Andrew and I have both been so busy with work and travel, so this was the perfect way to spend one of the last weekends of summer.
