This past weekend, Andrew and I had the privilege to play tourist in our town with a stay at the Spindrift Inn in Monterey. This gem is located right in the heart of Cannery Row and happens to be steps away from the very spot from where we got engaged. Since we happened to be celebrating 5 years of being together it was the perfect location for a romantic getaway.
Among their many amenities, a few important ones for us were the complimentary wine and cheese reception upon check in and their complimentary silver tray breakfast delivered to your room in the morning. We felt like royalty as we sipped local wine in front of the roaring, wood burning fireplace and snacked on gourmet cheeses.
We then went out to dinner on, grabbed hot cocoa at Ghiradelli’s next door and walked up and down Cannery Row, looking at the Christmas decorations in the shop windows. But we didn’t stay out long, as the fireplace in our room was calling my name. We don’t have our own fireplace so any chance we get to cuddle up next to one we take full advantage! We spent the rest of our evening tucked away by the fire and watched Christmas movies.
We woke early the next morning to sunshine and the sound of the crashing waves right outside our window. I remember lying there and soaking it all in to remember, as it was a glorious way to wake up. Shortly after waking up, our breakfast and daily newspaper were delivered to our door and we ate it next to our corner window looking out at the bay.
Another treasure that this hotel has to offer is a beautiful garden rooftop with full views of the ocean harbor and Cannery Row. On a clear day you can see as far as Santa Cruz on the other side of the bay, especially with the help of the binoculars provided in your room.
Needless to say, I didn’t want to leave. This place was the perfect romantic getaway for us and we couldn’t have been more thrilled with the exceptional service and accommodations provided by the Spindrift Inn.
Thank you Spindrift Inn for sponsoring this post.
