It is so hard to believe that this year is coming to a close. It seems like just yesterday we were ringing in the new year surrounded by our family and friends, saying goodbye to 2015 and hello to 2016. How time flies! We are currently wrapping up our trip back east with family, getting ready to head back to California to ring in the new year!
This past year was a huge accomplishment for us in many aspects, one being we were able to take many trips together. Being 3,000 miles from home and having to spend so much time away from our families has been really hard and is constantly challenging us as we miss weddings, football games (here’s lookin at you Penn State), family get-togethers and vacations. It was about this time last year that Andrew and I agreed that we needed to take advantage of what we have here in California and how close we are to some of the most beautiful places in the world. Our goal was a to do one trip per month and I would say we mostly succeeded. We learned so much more about each other and began to crave those little weekend getaways as a time to be together and to take a time out from our life in Monterey.
Throughout this past year, we made it to Yosemite twice, Lake Tahoe twice (seen here, here, and here), Napa Valley, Santa Cruz, Point Reyes, the Marin Headlands, Colorado, and Arnold. In addition, we were able to make it back home to the east coast a few times and Andrew traveled to many destinations for work, including Singapore and Salt Lake City, Utah. In June, Andrew graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School with his Masters degree and I received a promotion at work. We got out of debt by paying off our student loans, celebrated 3 years of marriage, and grew so much closer and stronger together as a couple. We really had a rich year and I am so thankful for everything God brought our way in 2016. Looking into the new year, we have many new adventures coming our way and I can’t wait to see where God takes us! I am so thankful for each one of you, my readers, and wish you a very happy new year!
