In recent years, Andrew has started a little tradition of a birthday weekend away for me and I can’t say that I mind. This year we settled on a trip down to Paso Robles as we have heard that it is the up and coming wine country. Being only a two hour trip from Monterey, we slept in on Friday before heading down. I, of course, was starving as soon as we arrived so we figured it best to stop for a quick bite before going to drink wine. We grabbed some burgers and then were off to the country.
Our first stop was Vina Robles, a winery located off of the east side of highway 46. We had done some research and heard great things about this winery and decided to make it our first stop. We were the only ones in the place for a while, which meant a nice one-on-one tasting.
After this stop, Andrew had heard about a nearby War Museum so we ventured over there for a quick break. I will admit, it ended up being really neat…HA!
Our final stop for the day was Eberle Winery, an absolute MUST if you’re in the area. Upon our arrival, they asked if we wanted to go on a cave tour. In 15 minutes, we learned so much about the care and keeping of wine. The tasting was phenomenal as well and the service was excellent. We highly recommend this place!!
We are still somewhat amateurs when it comes to wine tasting and were exhausted after our afternoon. So we grabbed some small bites in town and retired early before our trip to the coast the next day.
